### Point to Ponder (1) What do you think?

To solve part (a) of the question, Antonio applied the divisibility rule for 11.

Here is Antonio's proposed solution for (a)

In pairs, discuss and comment if you agree with his proposed solution

• agree, indicate Yes... this is what we think, too.
OR
• disagree (with the entire working or part of it), elaborate why.
Remember to sign off with both names.

2. Yes, this is what we think too :D

4. We disagree with the second possible answer (-5) as it is not possible to have a negative number in a whole number. But we agree with the first possible answer (6).

5. EDIT: done by Hodor and yu min shen

6. We disagree with the whole working.
x cannot be a negative number because its a digit.

7. We think this is correct except for the part where he wrote "-5" as the possible answer. We think he is correct in writing that the possible answer is 6.

8. Disagree. This is as it is impossible for a whole number to have a negative in it. So, -5 is wrong and 6 is correct

9. We disagree.
11x 2062÷11?

ODD=1+x+0+2=(X+3)
EVEN=1+2+6=9
x=6

10. Btw mine is by Marcus and Malcolm

11. We agree with the first answer but we do not agree with the second answer because a digit's value can't be a negative number.

12. We agree but also disagree.We agree with the first answer 6 but disagree with -5

because x is in the middle of the number and cannot be negative

13. MISTAKE at Line 10: 6 - x = 11 is wrong because the answer is -5, a negative number, which cannot be in the middle of 11x2062.

14. Yes, we agree with the answer 6. The other possible answer (-5) is not correct
-Rishita and hannah

15. we agree. But for the part where he put -5 is wrong because the number cannot have a negative number
-Dylan And Hsien Kit

16. We agree with his working but we do not agree with his possible number of -5 because there cannot be a negative number in a whole number and we agree with his answer 6.
